Weight-loss and specifically losing your 'love handles' is an issue that many of us are presented with everyday - just look in the mirror!
With our ever busy and demanding lifestyles, plus our leaning towards eating both fast and convenient foods only adds to our ever 'increasing' weight problems. We constantly seek that 'holy grail' of miracle weight loss to balance the scales but like the mythical grail it is simply out of reach to most of us. Cosmetic surgery and dietary supplements are massively wealthy industries that offer a 'get-out' clause to our weight problems, but are both very expensive and not permanent fixes!
The problem/rut that we find ourselves in did not happen overnight. It has occurred over a period of time where our lifestyles have changed and external demands on us have increased we have actually started to lead less structured lives! As more and more is demanded of us by our careers and families whatever little time we have left is spent either 'recuperating' from our efforts or actually doing very little (becoming more sedentary). We don't have time to prepare more wholesome meals, are definitely less active and as a result our weight increases and our body shape changes subsequently.
We need to cut-out these convenience foods, candies, sodas etc and opt for smarter choices such as meat and vegetables. Eat smaller portions at mealtimes and not food 'mountains'! Also, eat at a regular time everyday and don't eat too late in the evening.
Our activity levels also need to increase to supplement the changes we will be making in our culinary lifestyles. I'm not suggesting an exercise regime that would make a Marine pale and go weak at the knees, no! A gradual increase in physical activity coupled with our new eating habits can and will have a real and marked effect on our bodies and how we and others view us. Imagine what getting compliments on how you look will do to your self-confidence; especially if you are not used to receiving them! I believe our sometimes fragile egos are directly linked to our sometimes 'unhealthy' physiques, but we shall discuss that in a future article.
How to rid yourself of the dreaded love handles and that additional weight is often not the secret. Changing our mindsets and lifestyles to only a MINOR extent can make ALL the difference.
